She Saw me

she saw me naked in the moonlight

worn and shoddy my body not so

beautiful

but then men are not

beautiful

a bony hairy casing covering my

heart

women see the heart they do

if they see at all

i walked on grass wet with night

past a river slowly sinking into sleep

moon

light traced a bridge across

tempted

i dipped my foot into its frost

but i had not courage

so returned to grass and sighs

that sang of night
